From March
1991, the Association was an associated corresponding member
of the Banking Federation of the European Union. It became
an associated member in 1998. In 1993, it entered into cooperation
with the Mortgage Federation of the European Community. It
helps banks meet their integration-related tasks by furnishing
them with regular updates and information documents issued
by the Banking Federation of the European Union. It has developed
bilateral relations with the banking associations of several
countries in order to exchange experience on a regular basis,
facilitate technical training and so forth.
The Association
participates in the work of the macroeconomic forums of the government:
it is a member of the Economic Council, the Integration Council
and the Regional Development Council. The Association maintains
ad hoc relations with other financial associations and federations.
It takes action to institutionalise such relations wherever this
is deemed expedient. The Association took part in the setting up
of the Hungarian National Committee of the International Chamber
of Commerce (I.C.C.H.), and a representative of the Association
was duly elected to the Executive Board of the Committee.
